What is it?
Tropic Spa Home Mist Tanning System is an at home tanning unit that delivers tanning solutions in exact amounts (by built in electronic timer) over your entire body for a 12 second application time.
It’s a single, cordless (read: portable) unit with 6 outlets and an adjustable hanger that allows for easy height adjustments, and audible tones that provides vital user information. The unit comes with factory installed rechargeable lithium ion batteries that can last up to 20 tans, and charges within 3-4 hrs.
This system is built and certified UL (Underwriter Laboratories Inc) and CSA (Canadian Standards Association) specifications.

Contents of Unit:

  • Tanning unit
  • Power adapter
  • Hanger bracket
  • Instructional DVD
  • 6 cans of solution + 1 for touch ups
  • Hair/feet covers
  • Gloves
  • Exfoliating materials
  • Warranty
  • Operating instructions

After watching the short Instructional DVD, I found system quite easy to use- although it does take some getting use to.

The system needs to be charged (the light will turn from green to red). After charging, you’re ready to insert the 6 cans. I couldn’t figure it out at first but the DVD walked me through it and from then on, it was a breeze.
The system hangs on the door. The first (of the 6) nozzle should be at eye level. The hanger is adjustable and perfect for all heights.

What should you wear while spray tanning? You’ll want to wear something you don’t mind ruining, be it an old bra and panties, or bathing suit. I like to be topless while wearing a black thong (I hate noticeable tan lines).

Before you begin:

  • I  suggest laying a towel down on the ground to protect your floors from over spray.
  • Put on your hair cover
  • Put on your gloves, roll them up past the wrists
  • Put on your feet covers

note: the gloves and feet covers are to protect your palms and bottom of your feet

When you’re ready, press the “on” button to turn the system on, then press the “on” button to begin the 5 second countdown. At this point, you have 5 seconds to get in position. The DVD will teach you the position but essentially, stand with your legs apart, and arms up in a 90° angle.
The unit will beep every 3 seconds, as you rotate, until the tan is over and the machine will automatically shut down after 10 seconds.

To ensure you’ve tanned your whole body, spray the touch-up solution in your gloves and, in circular motions,  rub along your hairline, by your ears, over your lids, under your chin, undersides of your arms, your inner thighs, around your elbows, knees, ankles, and tops of your feet.
The DVD will explain all of this!

Don’t put on your clothes right away. Loosely wrap a towel around you, until you dry. To be safe and protect my clothes from staining, I wait about 20-30 minutes before getting dressed.
After about 6hrs, I start to notice a gradual tan. The first time, your tan will be subtle. The more your spray tan, the darker you’ll get it. DON’T over do it because you may turn orange. Make sure to exfoliate before each tan.

By my second try, I was so comfortable with the unit. I felt that I had mastered it, so to speak.

Right now, I am looking into ways to afford the Tropic Spa Home Mist Tanning System because I love it that much. The good news is I’ve got word that they’ll be lowering their prices- I’m just not sure how much yet.
